With eight seconds left in overtime , junior guard Skylar Jones hit the game winning shot , a 4 footer that banked in off the glass giving Mount Vernon (16-4) their 16th win on the season.

The two teams from Virginia beat up on each other all night , shifting momentum ties and leads continually between the clubs. In fact in the 3rd quarter alone their were six ties and seven lead changes. "We won this game as a team" added Jones (24pts) who's Mount Vernon club with a win tonight over Stuart(15-4) clinched the Virginia AAA District top seed while extending their winning streak to 14 straight games.

Stuart paced by senior Raymond Watson (17pts) jumped out to an early 11-5 lead and would hold the lead through halftime 33-28.

And although Mount Vernon and Stuart would share leads throughout the 3rd quarter Mount Vernon also found themselves down by five with just 53 seconds remaining in overtime. Stuart could have controlled their own destiny but missed opportunities at the stripe led to one last shot for Mt. Vernon.
