PONY February Student Athlete Of The Month

February Student Athlete Of The Month Jordan Martinez
The February Student Athlete Of The Month presented by www.pony.com , belongs to none other than Jordan Martinez , a 5'10" senior from Episcopal High School in Alexandria , Virginia. The stocky point guard has proven success in the classroom to compliment his four-year Varsity basketball track record.

Martinez currently carries a superior 4.0gpa while balancing a starting role for an Episcopal team that is 9-4 and coming off of an impressive win against #21 Flint Hill. In the win Martinez scored a season high 17pts.

In addition to the 4.0gpa , Jordan scored a 1300 on the SAT's Math and Verbal , some stats that the aspiring Political Science and Law major can certainly be proud of. Certainly many colleges have become interested in the "AP Scholar With Distinctions" an accomplishment on recognized through the college board in which Martinez was named.

MIT , University of Rochester , Washington and Lee , John Hopkins , NYU , Tufts and St. Mary's are all expressing interest in Martinez who believes in a rigorous academic challenge to compliment those that he faces on the hardwood. Jordan is enrolled in five Advanced Placement classes that include English , Spanish , Statistics , Human Geography and Environmental Science.

"My exposure to New York City and the huge basketball environment , was my main motivation for picking the game up" replied Martinez via email who spoke about his passion for hoops and the necessity of a college education. Although Jordan's classroom resume speaks for itself , on the court the kid was named to the Sleepy Thompson All Tournament Team , Eastern Invitational All Star Game and is currently a tri-captain on Episcopal's basketball team coached by Jim Fitzpatrick. Martinez has national experience with the NY Panthers AAU team in his hometown , and since moving to the Northern Virginia area the Metro Sixers.

Surely Jordan Martinez understands the importance of an education , and of challenges and so forth , thus making him a bright kid with an even brighter future whether or not an athletic career is pursued.
