Christian Webster Post-Game Interview

Senior guard Christian Webster scored a game high 28 points as his Landon boys basketball team (7-2) , controlled the tempo and knocked off the #15 ranked Chantilly Chargers (9-1) last night on the verge of New Year's Eve.
     
"A lot of people doubted us , we weren't ranked , but watching them I knew we had a better team and so we played , executed and won" added Webster who went on to win Tournament MVP of the 16th annual Pohanka Holiday Classic in Chantilly , Va.                    

Landon's freshman guard Joe McDonald connected on a strong lay-in giving them an early 14-5 lead in the first quarter , but senior Hinga Wuya kocked down two 3pt shots keeping Chantilly close throughout the first half. Wuya finished with a team high 16pts. Sophomore sensation John Manning (12pts) picked up two cheap fouls , limiting him early , but tied the game at 24 after being fouled while slamming down a two handed dunk. 
 

Landon found themselves up 34-32 at the intermission. "In the 2nd half I knew I had to get my offense going" noted Webster who scored 17 of his 28 points in the final two quarters.  
  

Landon held a slim lead throughout the entire second half , as Landon sophomore Darion Atkins(10pts) continued his big play against Chantilly's John Manning holding the highly coveted 2011 recruit to just 2 field goals and 12 points on the night. 

Landon turned to senior Christian Webster midway through the 4th quarter , who inflated Chantilly's hopes when the 6'5" guard nailed a deep three pointer putting Landon ahead 59-51 with 3:07 to play in the game. Sophomore John Manning fouled out on the very next play after getting nabbed with an illegal screen call , and Landon knocked down 13-18 free throws down the stretch taking down Chantilly 72-60.  Landon High School Christian Webster Interview
